About the Project
The Gazelle Impact Youth Scholarship supports students at St. Michael Faru High School in Kinangop from their second year of high school who are committed to their education but face significant financial hardship. The scholarship was initiated by Ann and Dan Hoffman, who have remained its biggest supporters for the last five years and continue to make this opportunity possible for many students. Financial needs are carefully verified by both the school administrator and Bariki Community members to ensure that support reaches those who need it most. Each scholarship is awarded to only one student per family to maximize community impact.
Once selected, students have their school fees covered for the rest of their high school studies. This long-term support eases the burden on families and allows students to stay in school without fear of interruption.
To remain eligible, recipients maintain strong academic performance and participate in basic computer training at the Bariki Community Center twice a month, which helps build essential skills for future opportunities. Each year, students also write a short reflection on how the scholarship has shaped their lives. Their stories consistently highlight reduced stress, increased confidence, and renewed hope for the future.
You can help sustain and expand the Gazelle Impact Youth Scholarship. Your support ensures that vulnerable students remain in school and continue building a strong foundation for their future. You may choose to make a one-time donation toward the scholarship or become a monthly donor. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports a student who simply needs the chance to learn and thrive.
