Gazelle Impact creates opportunities for American college students to participate in meaningful community service at the Bariki Community Center in rural Kenya. Working alongside local community members, students participate in community-identified projects that support local development and community empowerment, while also gaining valuable experience in global engagement, cultural humility, and cross-cultural interaction.
Beyond hands-on service, students engage directly with elementary and secondary school students, exchanging ideas, expanding one another’s understanding of education, and gaining exposure to different learning environments. These interactions provide a unique space for cultural exchange, allowing both visiting students and local youth to learn from each other, share perspectives, and build confidence and curiosity about the world beyond their own communities.
Through this immersive experience, participants develop a broadened global perspective, stronger cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of community strength and resilience.
