Sustainable Water Access at Bariki Community

About the Project

The Bariki Community Center is situated in an area that has faced persistent water shortages for decades. With a limited public piped water supply, households depend on rainwater harvesting, which often runs out during extended droughts. Climate change has exacerbated these issues through unpredictable rainfall, flooding, and prolonged dry periods, which impact daily life, health, and food security. With generous support from our donors, Gazelle Impact facilitated the drilling of a fully operational 270-foot borehole in April 2024, powered by a hybrid pump operated on solar energy with an electrical backup. Additional features include a kiosk to protect the pump and store tanks. This sustainable water source provides clean, reliable water to the community, the center, and the surrounding area, thereby improving the health and well-being of the broader population.
